Purpose: The aim of this article is to analyse the dynamics of household housing tenure in Togo.
Design/methodology/approach: Estimates made from a pseudo-panel constructed using QUIBB 2006, 2011 and 2015 data.
Findings: Life cycle variables such as age, household size and couple households increase the probability of homeownership. Male-headed households and households in urban areas are more likely to own their home. The results identify a threshold effect of income on access to homeownership. The results obtained on the pseudo-panel data are supported by the cross-sectional estimation carried out on the 2018–2019 EHCVM data. Economic policy recommendations are discussed.
